Sprint Receives 2008 Mobility Awards for Business Solutions Carrier Leadership, Sprint Navigation

Building on its industry leadership in GPS services, Sprint (NYSE:S) announced today that it has been recognized by Frost & Sullivan with not one, but two 2008 Mobility Awards for location-based services (LBS). Sprint received the 2008 Carrier Leadership Award in LBS for excellence in successfully deploying and delivering a comprehensive suite of LBS business solutions. Sprint also received a 2008 Mobility Award for Sprint Navigation, powered by TeleNav, a service that allows customers to use their phone as a personal navigation device for maps and turn-by-turn directions in the palm of their hand.

"Sprint has led the wireless industry in offering location-based services since introducing the first location and mobility solutions in 2000 and the first GPS-enabled phone in 2001," said Kevin Packingham, vice president of wireless data product management for Sprint. "We are pleased to be recognized by Frost & Sullivan for our industry-leading portfolio of business GPS solutions, as well as our popular Sprint Navigation application."

"By continuing to address the evolving demands of its customers, Sprint has established itself as a leader in the LBS space and is expected to advance LBS in the wireless industry in years to come," said Brent Iadarola, Frost & Sullivan Global Research Director. "Navigation for mobile devices presents an enormous market opportunity and is widely viewed as a more versatile and economical solution for both businesses and consumers compared to traditional personal navigation devices or in-vehicle solutions. Sprint Navigation has emerged as a leading navigation service for mobile phones in North America."

Business Solutions Carrier Leadership Sprint has partnered with industry leaders to empower businesses' mobile workforces with location-based applications for management and automation. With accurate, built-in GPS receivers, Sprint phones work in tandem with location-based applications to accurately locate whatever needs tracking.

Whether it's a home office or an entire enterprise, Sprint realizes businesses have unique needs. Sprint has developed an ecosystem of leading device and application providers to support a range of industry verticals, business processes and applications. The company has focused on business processes within industries such as transportation, field services, education (specifically K-12), healthcare and public safety, where mobile data adds significant value to day-to-day operating activities.

Innovative location-based solutions from Sprint provide businesses the ability to:

-- Locate: View and monitor employee location.

-- Navigate: Access GPS-enabled turn-by-turn driving directions, local listings, and family location updates.

-- Track and Manage: Optimize fleet operations, manage mobile resources, and track data and assets in real-time.

Sprint Navigation Sprint Navigation, powered by TeleNav, uses GPS to provide users real-time navigation on compatible Sprint phones. Sprint Navigation provides voice-guided and on-screen turn-by-turn driving directions, along with 3D moving maps, millions of business listings, and real-time intelligent traffic alerts with one-click rerouting.

Sprint Navigation is available on more than 30 Sprint phones, including the popular Rumor by LG and Katana DLX by Sanyo. To access Sprint Navigation, customers should open the Web on their phone and type "nav" in the search box, then click to download the application.

Sprint Launches Revolutionary $99.99 ''Simply Everything(SM)'' Plan

In an industry-defining move, Sprint today announced it will launch a domestic unlimited pricing plan that gives customers unlimited voice, data, text, e-mail, Web-surfing, Sprint TV(SM), Sprint Music, GPS Navigation, Direct Connect(R) and Group Connect(R) for $99.99 a month. The new pricing plan is available to existing and new customers beginning tomorrow.

"This is a bold, unprecedented move," said Dan Hesse, president and CEO, Sprint Nextel. "Wireless today is about much more than just voice. It is about data services - texting, email, video, pictures, music, navigation, surfing the Web and more. Customers want these applications, but without complexity and without having to worry about their bill. The $99.99 Simply Everything plan delivers it all right to the palm of their hand now.

"Today's handsets are powerful data devices. Each day they get better, faster and easier to use with more intuitive user interface designs and full Internet access. Our high-speed networks were built with this in mind and it's where we believe the battleground lies - offering fast access to the best content and data services. We are removing the barriers for customers to feel free to use all of the features of their phones."

The $99.99 Simply Everything plan is available to customers on both Sprint's CDMA and iDEN networks. Existing Sprint customers can switch to the Simply Everything plan without extending their current contract either by contacting Sprint customer service or by stopping by any participating Sprint retail location. New line activations require a two-year agreement.

For families, Simply Everything includes an incremental $5 discount for each incremental line, up to five lines on the same bill. For example, two lines would amount to $194.98 ($99.99 + $94.99); a third line would cost an additional $89.99. This is in sharp contrast to the multi-line unlimited rates offered by some competitors. The Sprint plan offers significant savings the more lines a customer adds.

The move to unlimited pricing that includes data signifies a turning point for the wireless industry. Nationally accepted measures of voice quality now show very little, if any, difference among the top wireless providers.

"All major carriers have good voice networks," Hesse said. "Our network is about more than voice and more than just being the largest wireless data network. It is about allowing customers to connect with people, information and entertainment. It is about simplicity, usability and real value. The $99.99 Simply Everything plan eliminates overage surprises and provides a worry-free environment.

"Our investments in innovation and speed are becoming the new areas of differentiation. These are the areas where we perform best and where we can deliver a wireless advantage for our customers."

Sprint Announces New Programs to Deliver Better Customer Experience

Gone are the days when Sprint customers will be required to extend their contracts when changing their rate plans. Earlier this summer, Sprint became the first wireless carrier to give customers additional contract flexibility by extending its Right Plan Promise policy to six months. Beginning Monday, Nov. 12, as part of the company's pledge to enhance the overall customer experience, customers will have even more flexibility by being able to change their rate plans without having to renew their contracts.

Plus during 2008, Sprint plans to implement a new prorated early termination fee (ETF) policy. More specific launch information and details of that policy will be announced next year.

"Giving our customers a superior experience is our first priority," said Bob Johnson, chief service officer at Sprint. "We are introducing programs to reward our customers and show our appreciation for their business. Rewarding their loyalty is a first step in gaining their trust."

Sprint's new customer-friendly policies build on Sprint's existing programs and commitment to a positive customer experience. In addition to the new contract flexibility and prorated ETF, Sprint's programs include:

Welcome Call

Soon after a new customer activates service, a Sprint customer care representative will welcome the customer to Sprint, thank the customer for his or her business, ensure the customer feels fully informed about the product and/or plan chosen, about coverage and answer any questions. The goal is to ensure customers are fully educated about the Sprint products and services they purchased.

Overage Courtesy Call

Sprint monitors new customers' wireless usage during the first six months of service. To ensure customers are on the right plan, Sprint will notify them the first time they have incurred significant excess voice, text or data overage charges. Customer service representatives will recommend a new plan for the customer to help them avoid future overage charges and better meet their wireless needs.

"New For You" Handset Upgrades

This valuable upgrade program offers savings to current Sprint customers on the newest, most innovative phones and connection cards. That way, long-time, loyal customers can continue to enjoy the same great services while keeping up with the latest technology. Existing customers may be eligible to receive savings of up to $150 off devices if they have been a customer for 22 consecutive months. Visit Sprint.com/upgrades for full program details and eligibility.

30 Day Risk-Free Guarantee

Sprint gives customers 30 days to try Sprint service risk-free. If a customer is not completely satisfied with Sprint, his or her service, phone or network coverage, the customer can simply return the undamaged phone and deactivate service within the 30 days. Sprint returns the customer's activation fees and waives the early termination fees, and customers are only responsible for charges based on their actual usage.

Premier Loyalty Rewards

In early 2008, Sprint plans to enhance its customers' experience even further by adding new and innovative reward programs for long-time customers.

Sprint Customers Get Industry-First "Mobile Shopper" Application to Browse and Buy Products from Online Retailers

Sprint mobile commerce site allows customers to quickly compare prices and make purchases from familiar online merchants straight from their handsets

Customers of Sprint (NYSE: S) can now shop and buy products from more than 30 online retailers right on their Sprint phones through one easy-to-use mobile commerce tool. With the launch today of Mobile Shopper, powered by Boulder-based mobile shopping company mShopper, Sprint is the first U.S. wireless carrier to launch a mobile shopping portal, bringing the online shopping experience to the wireless phone. Sprint data subscribers can access Mobile Shopper at no additional charge to make quick and easy price comparisons and purchases directly from their handsets.

At launch, Mobile Shopper features more than 7 million products for sale at more than 30 popular online retailers such as eLuxury, eBags, Bluefly, Shoes.com and many more, all easily accessible through a single tool. Users can search for a specific product to find which retailer offers it at the lowest price, or they can browse inventory by retailer or category. When they've found a product they're interested in, customers can email the details to themselves for future use, share the details with a friend, or purchase the product right from their phone.

To make a purchase, customers select an item and enter their phone number and PIN to apply their saved account information without having to type it in each time. Charges appear on the customer's credit card statement, just as they would for an online purchase made from a PC.

Alan Goode, a senior analyst at Juniper Research, sees an increasing market for mobile purchasing. He estimates that in North America, mobile purchasers will spend $505 million in 2008, increasing to $1.9 billion by 2010.

An Unprecedented Visual Experience Awaits Customers Who Select the Motorola RAZR2 V9m From Sprint Offering Robust Multimedia Content

Sprint will be the only carrier to offer Motorola's stunning next generation of the popular RAZR™ with NFL Mobile, more than 50 channels of television viewing and over-the-air song downloads at blazing network speeds

MotoRazr MotoRazr

RAZR2 V9m by Sprint fact sheet

Bringing the "third screen" of mobile video to two screens instead of just one, Sprint (NYSE: S) today announced plans to launch the latest Motorola handset, RAZR2 V9m with key features that make it stand out from the crowd. Sprint's RAZR2 V9m provides the ability to watch video on the external screen with the flip closed – a first for the U.S. wireless market.

Harnessing the speed of Sprint's Power Vision(SM) EVDO network, the RAZR2 will deliver exclusive access to multimedia content1 including:

  • NFL Mobile, a Sprint-exclusive wireless application that brings fans access to same-day audio and video highlights, a live stream of NFL Network's broadcast, real-time statistics and scores, customizable team and player alerts, injury reports and other information updated every two seconds.
  • Sprint Music Store(SM), powered by Groove Mobile, which allows users to browse and wirelessly download full-length songs directly to their phone from a selection of more than 1.6 million songs.
  • Sprint TV(SM) with more than 50 channels of live television and on-demand video and audio including a comprehensive portfolio of ABC news and entertainment video programming from ABC Entertainment, ABC News and Disney Channel such as on-demand, full-length episodes of ABC programs, including the hit shows "Desperate Housewives," "Grey's Anatomy," "Lost" and "Ugly Betty."
  • Sprint Power View, the industry's first made-for-mobile sports and entertainment video programming network.
  • Sprint Navigation, powered by TeleNav, providing full-feature GPS navigation including voice and on screen turn-by-turn driving directions with real-time traffic alerts and more than 10 million business listings.

(Standard data charges apply to all downloads from Sprint.)

"We are excited to pair our advanced multimedia capabilities and network speeds with this beautifully designed wireless phone," said John Garcia, senior vice president of product management and development for Sprint. "Customers will find Sprint's version of RAZR2 to offer exclusive video content that is both enjoyable and relevant. They will also appreciate that this device is the first clamshell in the industry to provide the option of watching video on both the internal or external display."

The design of RAZR2 has a sleeker, more sophisticated look and feel than its predecessor. At the core of RAZR2 is a stainless steel internal frame to help provide strength and durability. The large exterior lens is made with chemically hardened glass to be more scratch resistant.

Both the internal and external screens on the RAZR2 are significantly larger than the original RAZR– external is 2.0" and internal is 2.2" – with twice the resolution. The external display incorporates Motorola's breakthrough haptics technology, which provides users with vibrating feedback in response to their finger taps. This allows the user to effortlessly control their music, video and camera without opening the flip.

Additional features available on RAZR2 V9m by MOTOROLA include a 2.0 megapixel camera with digital zoom and advanced stereo Bluetooth® wireless technology.2 The device will also offer OnDemand(SM) with customizable up-to-date sports, weather and news information, Sprint PCS® Picture Mail for sharing and printing digital pictures and Wireless Backup to quickly restore contact information if the device is ever lost or stolen.

The device will cost $249 with a 2 year agreement (without any required rebate).

Customers purchasing RAZR2 V9m by MOTOROLA as a replacement for an existing mobile phone are encouraged to recycle their current phone, battery and accessories through Sprint Project Connect. One hundred percent of the net proceeds from Sprint Project Connect are used to help keep kids safer online through Sprint's 4NetSafety program with partners that include the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the NEA Health Information Network.
